Video: Project Wingman visits West London NHS Trust

Staff from West London NHS Trust are being given a much-needed wellbeing boost.

This month the Trust has welcomed the return of the Project Wingman wellbeing bus.

Project Wingman is a wellbeing charity that supports frontline healthcare staff through mobile lounges and wellbeing training.

The wellbeing bus is manned entirely by a volunteer aircrew, who kindly give up their time to support NHS staff.

Last week (Monday 17 October to Friday 21 October), the Wellbeing Bus visited St Bernard's Hospital and Clayponds Hospital in Ealing.

On board, there were refreshments, plasma screen TVs, comfy couches, massage machines, magazines and more!

During the visit we got to meet some of the volunteers working on the bus and were shown around the various wellbeing stations.

Ali Webster, Director of Organisational Development at West London NHS Trust, said: "Project Wingman has been a real success and feedback from the Wingman team shows they have welcomed more than 100 staff already which is double the amount they’d usually expect.

"The Wingman bus enables staff to take some well needed time out and just relax and unwind while enjoying some light refreshments.

"The team that supports the bus are amazing and experts in making staff feel valued and we have some really amazing staff who really deserve and value this.

"We know that taking just 10minutes out to unwind and refocus can have an impact on not just the member of staff but the people they meet and engage with throughout the day and in many cases that’s our patients, their families and carers.

"The Trust also has mobile wellbeing zones that are being offered to services and again the feedback from staff on the difference they make cannot be underestimated. Caring for those that care for others is so important and staff health and wellbeing is a key focus for the Trust."

The wellbeing bus will be visiting more sites across West London from Monday 24 October to Friday 28 October.

The visits are being funded through the newly relaunched West London Charity London NHS Charity.
