West London NHS Trust has launched a new five year strategy. The Trust sets out key priorities for 2023 – 2028 , with a major focus on tackling local health inequalities.

The Trust is one of the most diverse providers of integrated mental health, physical health and social care in the UK. It provides care and treatment for over 100,000 people out of a population of more than 800,000 living primarily in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, as well as running the high secure Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire.

Carolyn Regan, Trust Chief Executive said: “The Trust’s new five-year strategy marks an important new chapter for us. It has been developed in response to the changing health needs of the local communities. The five strategic priorities will benefit the 800,000 population we serve locally and the 4175 staff who work here. It is based on the ideas and feedback we’ve gathered from the many patients, service users, carers and staff who we engaged with over several months”.

“Tackling health inequalities is the key theme that will be running through our work over the next five years. The work underpinning the priorities is already underway but we can’t do it on our own so please get involved, tell us what you think and help play your part in improving the quality of care we provide”.

The five identified priorities for the Trust in the period 2023-28 are:

  • Collaboration and system leadership
  • Population health, inequalities and co-production
  • Putting people first
  • Innovation in service development and delivery
  • Aiming for outstanding

Elizabeth Rantzen, recently appointed Interim Chair at the Trust said:

“We’re very proud to launch our new strategy. The five chosen priorities were developed following extensive engagement and consultation. They will improve the health and wellbeing of our communities and will assist with our ambition of being an outstanding provider of integrated care and a key partner across the health and care system”.
