Nursing graduates group shot.JPGWest London NHS Trust is proud to celebrate the latest group of nursing apprentices who have successfully graduated as Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates in 2025. Every one of them began their journey with us as Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), and through hard work, determination, and support from colleagues across the Trust, they have now stepped into fully qualified roles.

This year’s achievements include:

  • 9 Registered Mental Health Nurses
  • 3 Registered Adult Nurses
  • 4 NMC Registered Nursing Associates.

A special milestone this year is our first-ever cohort of Adult Nursing apprentices to graduate since community services became part of the Trust. Their success marks a key step forward for us and reflects the impact of our “grow your own” approach to developing talent. By supporting apprentices from day one, we are building a skilled, committed workforce that understands our values, our culture, and the communities we serve.

Among this year’s graduates is Meherun Nessa, who works at Lakeside Mental Health Unit. She shared how the people she works with inspired her nursing journey:

“I’ve seen in my ward that everyone is kind, very passionate, and it’s not only our team, the whole Trust. It’s very different here [at West London]. The people who work here, they have more passion, and empathy, and a different way of seeing things. That inspired me a lot, and I said, ‘somehow, I have to be a mental health nurse.’”

Stories like Meherun’s show the importance of creating a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and encouraged to grow.

To mark the occasion, our Deputy Chief Nurse, Bertha Matunge, joined the celebrations and presented certificates to our graduates - a well‑deserved moment of recognition for their hard work. She said, “Nursing is more than a job; it is a commitment to caring for people when they need us most. Our apprentices have already shown that they have the heart and strength for this work.

“Seeing them qualify today fills me with pride. We are lucky to have them stepping into these important roles.”

We are incredibly proud of every apprentice who has reached this point. Their achievements show the strength of our apprenticeship programme and the value of investing in people who want to build their careers with us. Most importantly, they will make a real difference to patient care and to teams across our services.

This achievement also reflects our Trust strategy of 'Putting People First', supporting staff to learn, develop and grow. These graduates already embody the compassionate, patient‑centred approach at the heart of the strategy.

Congratulations to all our 2025 nursing graduates!
