West London NHS Trust has launched its Suicide Prevention Strategy 2025–2030, setting out a clear ambition to reduce suicides across our communities and strengthen the support we provide for those affected.

Every suicide is a tragedy — for families, friends, communities and the staff who cared for them. Our new strategy builds on what we have learnt and achieved so far, and sets out how we will work together to save lives.

What’s in the strategy?

The strategy is shaped around three priorities:

  • Reducing suicides in high-risk groups such as men aged 35–64, LGBTQ+ people, those facing economic hardship, and individuals with long-term mental health or substance misuse issues.
  • Supporting people who self-harm through earlier intervention, responsive crisis care, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Improving support for people bereaved by suicide, including postvention care and involving families and carers in service improvements.

You can read the strategy in full here.

A message from our Deputy Chief Nurse Bertha Matunge:

“Every life lost to suicide is one too many. Our new strategy is about saving lives and reducing harm. We all have the power to be a life line to someone- suicide prevention is all of our business.”
