To mark Allied Health Professionals Day, we caught up with a few AHPs to find out more about why they're proud to be an AHP.
...........................................
Hello, my name is Rita Ananti and I'm a dietitian .
Why are you proud to be an AHP?
I'm proud to be a member of the AHP Team who works closely and collaboratively to provide holistic, safe, and patient centred care.
I'm especially proud to be a dietitian supporting patients and carers in getting the most appropriate nutrition support to live a healthy and independent life.
Tell us more about being a dietitian?
Dietitians are registered healthcare professionals who provide evidence-based advice and information on food and nutrition to improve and manage medical and nutrition related conditions. We are passionate about identifying malnutrition of any form at its earliest time to treat and prevent progression which would otherwise affect the quality of life on the long term.
What is the best part about your role?
I find it rewarding in seeing positive outcomes and results, especially hearing patients speak of their experiences and how our intervention has impacted on their overall wellbeing with smiles on their faces.

Hello, my name is Saravanan Sivanithi. I am by background a Physiotherapist and currently the head of the therapies team in the Ealing Community team for people with learning disabilities
Why are you proud to be an AHP?
As an AHP I make a difference every day by helping people recover, supporting diagnosis, or improving quality of life, my work directly impacts people’s health and wellbeing, and I am a vital part of the NHS healthcare system. As an AHP I combine the heady mix of science, skill and compassion with evidence-based practice.
I contribute for making someone independent, build their confidence and lead a life of Independence and quality. I treat people with respect and treat them holistically attending to their needs.
Tell us more about being a physiotherapist?
I help people move, the basic ability of some one to be mobile and live a life without limitations physically. I help people take control of their body build lasting habits that can make them lead a healthier life.
There is nothing like witnessing someone getting their lost skill back after therapy as the work as a Physiotherapist has brought this visible life changing results. As a Physiotherapist the range of work we do is huge as we promote health and wellbeing in the population we serve.
What is the best part about your role?
The best part other than being a clinician and being the Head of therapies is about shaping the vision, the work culture and impact the team makes. I have the privilege of guiding the skilled and compassionate professionals in my team. I do help them set priorities and drive quality and Improvement.
