Taylan pioneered the UK’s first fully integrated neuropsychiatry service within a level two neurorehabilitation unit, setting a new benchmark for holistic neurological care. This innovation complements local, district-level specialist neurorehabilitation services, which are led by consultants in rehabilitation medicine and designed to support patients with less complex, ongoing needs. These services offer multidisciplinary therapy, delivered either in inpatient settings or through community outreach. The overarching aim is to foster improvement that enables patients to reintegrate into the community or reduce their future care requirements.

Taylan’s proactive, embedded approach has transformed outcomes: reducing aggression, shortening hospital stays, and significantly improving access for marginalised groups. His model bridges the gap between psychiatric and neurological care, ensuring that patients receive seamless, person-centred support.

West London NHS Trust extends a heartfelt thank you to all who made the evening so special, including our dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors OCS, and special guest Seema Malhotra, MP for Feltham and Heston, whose presence and support meant a great deal to staff.

Maria O’Brien, Chief Executive, shared: "Last week’s Excellence Awards ceremony was a reminder of the exceptional staff we have here in West London. I was delighted to see so many colleagues recognised for their hard work.

“The Awards give us a chance to pause and reflect on the consistent dedication that powers our organisation every day.

“I left the evening feeling proud, humbled, and deeply grateful to be a part of West London."
