West London NHS Trust has been placed in the top tier of non-acute trusts in the government’s new performance league tables, ranking 10th out of 61 across England.

The league tables, published quarterly under the new National Operating Framework, are designed to introduce clear and consistent standards for NHS trusts. The Government hopes this new system will mark a step change in transparency and accountability—helping to raise standards, reduce variation in care, and ensure patients receive the high-quality services they deserve.

Chief Executive Maria O’Brien said: “This is a fantastic achievement and one that demonstrates we are managing our organisation well, while continuing to deliver high-quality care to those we serve.”

Being in the top tier means the Trust not only receives national recognition but also benefits from greater freedom to operate and less external scrutiny from NHS England.

Maria added: “Reaching the top tier is not only a recognition of your hard work and commitment, it also means that as a Trust we benefit from greater freedom to operate and less external scrutiny from NHS England. In short, it allows us to remain more in control of our own destiny – shaping our services in ways that best meet the needs of our patients and communities.”
