The campaign has helped to;

  • Promote the staff health and wellbeing support on offer at the Trust
  • Highlight the connection between our physical and mental health
  • Bring staff together over group activities-creating a West London health and wellbeing community
  • Cycling and walking stories have aligned with our green plan sustainability goals and the travel and transport facilities we offer staff.

West London Get Fit: Challenge yourself 2024

We have a new challenge for you, for the whole of January try to aim to step outside for 30 mins each day. You can walk, sit outside with friends, colleagues, stretch, run – it’s up to you.

We also want to hear from you if you’re taking on a new challenge for January or this year i.e. running a 5K, walking 7,000 steps a day, quitting smoking. To share your story please email communications@westlondon.nhs.uk

If you’re feeling inspired why not think about joining a local park run. You can walk or run alone or in teams.

For aspiring runners you can download the Couch to 5K app to help you get started.

Wellbeing and Recovery college - Let’s move in January

On Tuesday 9 January colleagues from the Wellbeing and Recovery college led by Derek Tracy Chief Medical Officer stepped away from their desks for a lunchtime walk in Gunnersbury Park. A service user and colleagues from Brentford Football Club Community Sports Fund Trust also came along and the group walked around the park to increase their step count, get some fresh air and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

Let’s Go Southall Cycling event – 12 January

Colleagues from the Healthier lifestyles team have partnered up with Let’s Go Southall, a community organisation to encourage the local residents to get cycling and support their physical health. On Friday 12 January colleagues from the Healthier lifestyles team - Maria Romero, Ariana Florentino, Rosa Jones, Harita Jadav (Health Champion volunteer) led by Katerina Manginas braved the cold weather for a morning bike ride with the residents of Southall to support their efforts to get moving. Seeing the NHS take part in community activities, celebrates our partnership work and also helps to promote our healthier lifestyles and community outreach and engagement work.
