West London NHS Trust was proud to receive the news that one our volunteers, Ragini Patel was included in this year’s New Year’s honours list and conferred with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her volunteering efforts in Northolt and the London Borough of Ealing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

West London NHS Trust’s Head of Volunteering Rashpal Saini said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that Ragini has been recognised for her volunteering with us.  Well done!”

Ragini joined the Trust as a volunteer during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 after she was released from her day job as a teaching assistant at Tudor Primary School, Southall.

Her volunteering efforts at the West London Trust involved coordinating activities for patients on wards as well as distributing PPE and food donations across the Trust.

Ragini’s volunteering work also includes other organisations such as supporting homeless people at the Ealing Soup Kitchen and the Felix Project.

Ragini on receiving the news said: “I’m really overwhelmed to be nominated and speechless receiving a letter from The Queen, it was a wow moment!”
