West London NHS Trust, in partnership with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families and University College London, has been awarded the contract to deliver the National Hub for the Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KUF) training by NHS England & Improvement, Health Education England and Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service.

The KUF Hub will support the growth of skills and knowledge of the workforce across the health, social care, criminal justice and third sectors, to effectively support service users with complex mental health difficulties associated with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

The training aims are to address the gaps in knowledge and to improve the sense of confidence in working with those service users.

The £4.5m, three-year contract is expected to deliver training for over 6,000 people in the first 12 months.

The KUF Hub and the KUF training are fully co-produced and co-delivered. This psychologically-informed training emphasises that the roots of complex emotional needs are to be found in developmental histories scarred by trauma, neglect and adversity.
