On Sunday 24 September Trust staff Nyarai Chuma, Ken Wakatama, Dr Estelle Moore, Dr Vincent Law and Amy McBain took part in the Windsor half marathon for the West London NHS Charity. The team set off in the morning with many other runners on the challenging course and supported one another to get through the race.

West London NHS Charity champion Nyarai Chuma took part in the half marathon as part of her fundraising effort to support the Trust charity. In case you missed it there is still time to make a small donation to Nyarai's fundraiser click here

Dr Estelle Moore said; "Nyarai did an amazing job of organising us to meet and run for the West London NHS Charity. The Windsor course is described as ‘undulating’ so it is not for unseasoned runners (Dr Law was by far the local winner on speed!), but also really a beautiful course on a windy day. The rain held off and there was lots of support for the NHS all the way!"

Nyarai added; "This was really an amazing experience for Amy and I. We both have never run a half marathon before and to be honest didn't really train but we finished. We had amazing support for the NHS and another runner called Steve who stayed with me and Amy throughout the race. The crowd cheered for us all the way to the finish.

I am told Windsor is the hardest race and I am so proud I started with the hardest. I want to say a massive thank you to Amy, Estelle, Ken and Vincent who showed a true spirit of togetherness. Vincent even offered to buy us coffee. I can now safely say I am now an endurance athlete."

Dr Vincent Law said; "It’s an amazing effort from all and really enjoyed seeing everyone on the occasion!!"

Ken Wakatama added: "It was a challenging  and difficult run, what kept us motivated, focused, enabled us to endure the pain and discomfort was knowing that it was all for a good cause."
