The Trust Practice Development Team (Local Services) have been shortlisted for an incredible three health care sector awards for their ‘Scenarios Videos Project’. 10 short powerful films have been created as part of the project, based on real life inpatient experiences & critical incidents on acute mental health wards.

The project has been recognised and shortlisted by the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2022, Nursing Times Awards 2022 and the Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards 2022!

The learning and development films ‘bring the patient journey to life’ and after each group viewing, discussions take place on the patient experience, staff role, empathy, trauma and other subjects which encourage group learning and reflection.

The videos are now being used with student, newly qualified and international IEN nurses as well as in multi-disciplinary spaces with fantastic feedback and reviews.

Jimmy 2.jpgMelville Jimmy Garber – Associate Practice Development Nurse – Project Lead and Manager, supported by Practice Development colleagues (Local Services), was behind the idea of creating these powerful, emotionally engaging, audio visual short learning videos for frontline staff.

Melville Jimmy Garber says of the recognition:

“The films provide a supportive approach to learning as an alternative to other traditional methods of which some staff struggle to engage with, assimilate and digest.

It was a team effort and we’re amazed that the project has received the recognition it has – we’re already winners!”

Results of the awards will be announced this Autumn.

Well done to everyone involved and good luck for the Award nights ahead, we are all behind you!
