Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week (Monday 5 to Friday 9 February).

The week aims to bring together everyone passionate about apprenticeships to celebrate the value, benefit and opportunities they provide.

The theme for this year's event is 'Skills for Life'.

With this in mind, we’re delighted to announce that we’re teaming up with the organisation Pass Functional Skills.

They provide functional skills courses, revision, tuition and Ofqual exams, so if a member of our staff needs a functional skills qualification, for example, in maths or English, to get onto a university course and demonstrate their skills, we have a tried and tested resource ready for them to use.

We're aiming for our first cohort of staff to start their Pass Functional Skills course in March with a view to taking examinations in early June.

As part of the course, they'll identify their strengths and weaknesses, receive video support from experts, have access to practise questions and mock exams, track their progress and find out when they're ready for an exam.

This National Apprenticeship Day, we're encouraging our staff to consider how apprenticeships could help them develop the knowledge and skills they need for a rewarding career.
