NHS Trusts from across the country came together to discuss improving safety in mental health.

A special event was held at the Royal College of Psychiatrists head office and was chaired by the Trust’s Chief Nurse, Stephanie Bridger.

The event was organised in partnership with The Cavendish Square Group, a collaborative of 10 NHS Trusts which provide mental health services in London.

For the past four years the group has been running a Safety and Equality in Mental Health (SEMHIS) programme.

The SEMHIS programme seeks to bring together multiple health organisations to work together on shared improvement projects that will have a significant impact on our patient and staff’s wellbeing.

As part of the event, the Trust signed up to be part of a joint working collaborative addressing the following areas:

  • Inequalities in Mental Health.
  • Safety Leadership.
  • Enhanced Observations.
  • A Trauma Informed Approach.

The Trust’s acute service line has joined up to all four areas and is leading the work around enhanced observations.

Kevin Cann, who is the Reducing Restrictive Practice Lead for Local Services said: “With excellent representation Acute Mental Health Services within West London NHS Trust are sure to be a major contributor to this innovative and exciting collaborative programme.”
