A Trust doctor has been co-opted as the Vice Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrist's London Division.

The London Division has over 3600 members who are supported by the Executive Committee, and can attend numerous workshops and events throughout the year which the Division hosts.

Dr Bradley Hillier works as a consultant forensic psychiatrist for the Trust.

Discussing his new appointment, he said: "My intention in doing so was to engage further with the work in the Royal College in London, and in particular to be a voice for the role of psychiatrists in leadership, the wellbeing of the medical workforce in their current and future working roles, as well as to raise awareness about LGBTQI+ mental health and Chemsex.

"In my role as Vice Chair I will continue to promote these issues, as well as contribute and engage further with the College’s Executive Committee and Trustees when Dr Suhana Ahmed (the London Division Chair and also a West London Consultant) is unavailable or would like me to deputise for her, and work closely with her and the other committee members to promote the wellbeing of our service users, promote psychiatry as a specialty including for recruitment, advocate for mental health parity of esteem, support medical professional development and support the objectives of the College overall.

"I hope that the fact that the Chair and Vice-Chair of the London Division will encourage members of West London NHS Trust to feel able to approach either of us about college matters which they may have been thinking about but not sure who to speak with, and encourage colleagues to consider how they might also become involved in the London Division, as well as to consider having their contribution to the profession to be recognised through Fellowship of the College."

The current chair is one of the Trust's very own clinical directors, Dr Suhana Ahmed.

Thank you for representing the Trust!
