The Trust is celebrating its latest nurses to complete the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship course at Buckinghamshire New University.

The Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) course was formed in 2018 in partnership with the university to create a new pathway to becoming a fully qualified mental health nurse.

Since launching the course, a total of 37 staff have qualified as nurses.

The latest cohort included five nursing apprentices from High Secure Service (HSS) and one from Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Services (CIDS).

Ali Webster, Deputy Director of Organisational Development said: "We continue to be extremely proud of the high level at which our Nursing Degree Apprentices are performing and receive excellent feedback from the University, who consistently tell us that our apprentices are excelling in their studies."

Hannah Carter, one of the newly qualified nurses, said: "Completing the apprenticeship programme did pose its challenges, however, none of them could ever overshadow the amazing feeling of graduating with a first class degree.

“I am forever grateful to the Trust for giving me the opportunity to develop my education and further my career. I would like to thank my colleagues who have supported me along the way.”

Philippa Scott, a newly qualfiied nurse, said: "Graduating has been such an honour for me. I have worked for the Trust for several years and to be able to now progress my career is just amazing.

"I hope to use the skills and knowledge I have gained from work and university to support the development of nursing practices and ultimately, provide optimum patient care!

"Graduation felt a million miles away when I started the course; I can’t believe it is now all over. But I am ready and excited for this next chapter.

We currently have 27 Registered Nursing Degree Apprentices in training with a further nine on track to qualify this August.
