The Trust is delighted to announce that St Bernard's Hospital has achieved the gold level accreditation as a Cycle Friendly Employer (CFE). This prestigious recognition is exclusively awarded to organisations that boast “exemplary cycle-friendly facilities.”

The accreditation was granted by Cycling UK, partner of the European Cyclist Federation, which plays a pivotal role in promoting cycling among employers and workplaces.

Throughout the accreditation process, St Bernard's were assessed on their efforts to make the Trust cycle friendly.  The site received an overall gold level award having been assessed against six categories:

1. Information, communication, and incentives for employees

2. Co-ordination and organisation

3. Service

4. Facilities

5. Parking management

6. Customer Traffic

Amilcar (Simon) Simoes, Facilities Manager said:

“The Travel and Transport Team, alongside the Cycling Volunteer Leads, work all year round to promote cycling and its health and environmental benefits.  We hold several cycling events throughout the year and work hard on improving facilities to support and encourage our colleagues and get them involved. Our goal is to pursue CFE employer accreditation for all our Trust sites and continue to improve on our green travel plans.”
