More than 140 people descended on Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing for a nursing student recruitment event organised by the Trust.

The event was held to show third-year nursing students, who have completed placements with the Trust and are due to qualify later this year, some of the permanent roles available to them.

On the day, 75 members of staff from services across the Trust, including forensics and high secure services, attended to show the nursing students what their work involves.

Staff were in high spirits as they recruited pre-registration student nurses who are qualifying in September, apprenticeship degree students who are qualifying in November, and apprenticeship nursing associates who are qualifying in December.

The event was opened by Gillian Kelly, Deputy Director of Nursing, who spoke about the Trust's recruitment and retention plan for student nurses.

The event was organised by Constance Mambanje, Practice Development and Innovation Nurse at West London NHS Trust.

She said: "We were thrilled to welcome so many student nurses to our recruitment event. Students choose West London NHS Trust for their placements because we offer excellent training and even greater employment opportunities at the end. We’re excited to see many of the third year student nurses we met at Trailfinders join our workforce permanently and look forward to seeing how their careers develop.”

The next event, to engage with Trust students who are qualifying in 2024, will take place on Friday 20 October 2023. The venue is to be confirmed.
