The British Medical Association (BMA) have announced doctors’ strikes.

Resident doctors will undertake five days of industrial action in England from 7am on Wednesday 17 December to 7am on Monday 22 December 2025.

Patient safety remains our top priority.

We are working closely with our senior medical workforce, including consultants and specialty doctors, to maintain safe services and minimise disruption during this period.

Have you got an appointment with us?

Please continue to attend your appointment as planned unless you are contacted directly by the hospital to reschedule.

If you can no longer attend, please cancel your appointment using the contact number in your appointment letter – this allows us to offer the slot to another patient.

How to access care during industrial action

If you need urgent medical help, please call the NHS 111 helpline, or visit NHS 111 Online.

The NHS 111 team can provide advice immediately and, if needed, can arrange a home visit or book a timed appointment at an A&E department.

If it is a serious or life-threatening emergency, please call 999 or go straight to your nearest A&E department.

What is a resident doctor?

Resident doctors (formally called junior doctors) help our services run smoothly by leading on essential parts of your care. Their roles range from ordering tests and referring patients to other medical teams, to discharging patients from hospital and reviewing sick or deteriorating patients.
