This year, Dietitians Week (2 to 6 June) celebrates ‘the future of Dietetics’, highlighting the passion and dedication of our dietetic workforce. Ahead of the week, the Ealing Community Dietetic Team, is proud to introduce the Weight Care Group, a newly designed programme to support patients on their weight management journey.

Led by community dietitians Marco Wong, Meenal Savani, Nicola Christie, and Deborah Ayodeji, this initiative was developed in response to patient feedback, reinforcing The North West London (NWL) Community and Mental Health Provider Collaborative’s vision of excellent care and strong local partnerships. The group-based approach empowers motivation, shared experiences, and holistic care.

A patient-centred co-production session shaped the initiative. Through this collaborative approach that involved patients as partners provided valuable insights reflecting their needs and preferences. The key focus of the new initiative is on self-management, combining nutritional education with goal-setting, behaviour change strategies, and one-to-one consultations for tailored support.

Balbinder Sembi, Nutrition Support Clinical Lead and Manager from the Ealing Community Partners who has been part of the team in launching this initiative said: “I’m excited and proud to highlight the innovative, co-produced Weight Care Group that my team has been delivering. The invaluable feedback from patients has not only shaped our approach but will also guide future quality improvement projects within the service.”

The team will be setting up display stands throughout the week from 2 to 6 June to share information about the role of dietitians, weight management, diabetes, nutrition support, and training sessions at the following locations:

  • Clayponds Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Acton Health Centre
  • Mattock Lane Health Centre
  • Featherstone Road Clinic.
