The Trust has set up a new CATALYST Placement Programme which prepares aspiring psychological professionals for a substantive position as an Assistant Psychologist, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or similar. Funded by Health Education England (HEE) for 2021-2022 this programme aims to support those from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Dr Simon Draycott is leading the programme and with future funding for 2022-23 shared across a range of Trusts, we will be able to fund up to 4 placements in the next programme cohort.

Here, Simon discusses the importance of attracting applicants from BAME and disadvantaged communities, and how he is keen to keep the programme alive and support placements in the future.

Meet Aniqa and Stephanie, two of this year’s successful placement applicants and follow their CATALYST journeys.
