On Friday 27th October 2023 Carolyn Regan, Chief Executive of West London NHS Trust, attended Buckingham Palace to receive her CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire). 

Carolyn has been awarded the highest ranking British Empire Order from HRH the Princess Royal in recognition of her exceptional contribution to public service during an impressive career that has spanned four decades. She has been Chief Executive at West London NHS Trust since 2015 and under her leadership the Trust has achieved remarkable success, rated Outstanding in many areas by the Care Quality Commission and Good overall as a Trust.

Prior to working at West London NHS Trust, Carolyn held senior healthcare leadership roles across London; including Chief Executive of North East London Strategic Health Authority. She was also pivotal in the establishment of NHS West London Clinical Commissioning Group.

Carolyn is a passionate champion for tackling health inequalities and giving a voice to under-represented parts of our community. By championing inclusivity and fairness, she drives positive change, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, receives the highest quality of care.

Carolyn is also the co-chair for the population health management and reducing inequalities programme in NW London, pioneering new initiatives to create a fairer more representative health system. The latest example of this is the NW London refugee recruitment programme which offers work in the NHS for refugees arriving in the UK, recognising the skills and expertise they bring to the community.

Most recently Carolyn was named in the HSJ Top 50 leaders in healthcare, she has also been named in the Financial Times OUTstanding top 20 LGBT public sector leaders and as an outstanding leader by the NHS London women’s leadership network.

Carolyn has accepted the CBE in appreciation of all her colleagues working in public service especially staff at West London NHS Trust and the wider NHS community.
