Communication skills are fundamental to a child’s development. Communication is in everything we do and uses a range of skills including:

  • Feelings and experiences, and making friends
  • Interacting with others
  • Joining in with games and activities
  • Listening to people
  • Sharing ideas
  • Talking about something that's happened
  • Understanding what people say and how they feel.

In the first 5 years of life, communication skills develop quickly. So, if a child is having difficulty with their communication skills, it’s important that they get help as soon as they can.

Students

We welcome students and work with universities to offer a range of student placements across our speech and language therapy teams in Ealing.

We’re a dynamic and friendly team based in Ealing. We’re always looking to bring new skills and experience into our growing team. You can find out more about what it’s like to work with us and search for jobs on our careers pages.

It’s never too early to refer a child for speech and language support. If a child is having difficulties understanding, or being understood or you have any concerns, find out more about when and how to refer on our information for parents and carers page.

We offer a well-established mainstream school buy-in service. This allows local schools to buy speech and language therapy time on a per session basis, giving them access to a wealth of knowledge, expertise and resources.

Costs are based on the time the therapist spends in the school working directly or indirectly to support children’s communication.

We work across the following levels:

  • Universal (for all children)
  • Targeted (for children who need some support)
  • Specialist (for children who need specific support).

Find out more about our buy-in service in your school by contacting our speech and language therapy administrator on 020 8825 8835.

Our early start team runs free 1 to 2 hour workshops and free half or full day training sessions on a range of topics for children aged 0 to 5. These training sessions are open to all practitioners and are advertised on Ealing CPD Online.

Our mainstream schools team offers a comprehensive training programme for school staff in Ealing.
