Staff benefits

These are just some of the benefits which we offer our staff.

The NHS pension scheme is well regarded. Staff can opt into the scheme at any time during their employment in the NHS.

We offer a generous relocation package of up to £8,000 for some new employees (including nurses) who are moving 40 miles or more.

Your health is just as important as those we help as part of our work. We offer a range of benefits to support your health and wellbeing. These include discounts and offers for everything from fitness classes and equipment to breaks away. We can also arrange physiotherapy and counselling. Some of our sites also have gym facilities for staff use.

It's faster, healthier and cheaper to cycle to work. Using our Bike2Work scheme, you can get a new bike for your commute, saving you money and helping you get fit at the same time. You get to choose the bike you want as well as safety equipment, and repay it through your wages in instalments – and you won’t be deducted tax or NI on that part of your salary.

Our car benefit scheme is like Netflix for cars. For a fixed monthly amount, you can lease a new car with insurance, servicing, MOT, road tax, repair bills and breakdown cover included. All you’ll have to pay for is the fuel – unless it’s electric of course.

Balance is important to stay healthy and happy at home and at work. We offer a range of flexible working to meet the needs of staff and our services.

We’ll always try to accommodate flexible working through arrangements such as flexitime, special leave, annualised hours, flexible retirement, and career breaks.

We recognise the importance of maintaining a good balance between work and the rest of life, supporting our staff to:

  • Combine work and home life effectively
  • Enjoy a healthy and safe working environment
  • Develop their careers through lifelong learning.

Career breaks allow you to take an extended period of unpaid leave with an agreement to resume work on a specified date. A career break can last between three months and three years and the scheme is open to all employees with at least one year's service.

Juggling family and working life can be a challenge. We offer our working parents subsidised play schemes, tax-free childcare vouchers and excellent maternity and paternity support.

Childcare vouchers are available to all employees using registered childcare for children aged 0 to 16 years. The vouchers cover most types of childcare. You’re paid a portion of your salary in vouchers and this is exempt from tax and National Insurance contributions.

Full time employees are entitled to:

  • 27 days annual leave a year
  • 29 days after 5 years
  • 33 days after 10 years' service.

Staff can reduce their holiday entitlement by up to a week of basic contracted hours or increase it by a maximum of two weeks. By buying additional holiday, your salary is reduced by the number of days purchased.  Selling holiday will increase your salary by the number of days sold.

Discounts on holidays and travel

We regularly negotiate great offers for our staff on travel and breaks in the UK and further afield. Details are available on the Trust intranet and in our regular staff updates.
