West London NHS Trust part of vital Discover-NOW research partnership

14 Oct 2019

Imperial College Health Partners, to which West London NHS Trust is a member, is leading a new partnership known as Discover-NOW.

Discover-NOW is a research hub that allows NHS organisations to access patient data, with appropriate controls and consent, so they can better diagnose and treat complex physical and mental health conditions. In enabling to do this, in near real-time, clinicians, researchers and scientists will be able to identify new patterns in disease, thus helping to better manage many conditions and, in some cases, preventing them from happening in the first place.

Discover-NOW will initially focus on North West London, which its current population is 2.3 million.

Dr Samantha Scholtz, Research Director at West London NHS Trust, says: “The partnership with Imperial College Health Partners and Discover-NOW is hugely important, and a positive step towards delivering the best patient care. Research within the NHS is a real force for good and by being able to access the right information, we can save lives.”
