Trust’s Learning and Development team awarded ‘Gold standard’ accreditation for work experience programme

Fair Train, a national charity and owners of the national Work Experience Quality Standard accreditation, have awarded the Learning and Development Team (L&D) at West London Mental Health NHS Trust with the highest level of accreditation, Gold, for its work experience programme.

The Work Experience Quality Standard is a national accreditation developed by Fair Train with support from the Department for Education, Ofsted and other employers and learning providers. The Trust’s delivery of work experience was praised for meeting the needs of different applicants, as well as providing interviewing skills and employability skills training to adequately prepare individuals for their future career.

As well as this, Fair Train praised the L&D Team for its work experience application process, personalised programmes and production of an interactive work experience booklet, describing it as an innovative and engaging way of communicating with young people.

Ali Webster, Assistant Director of Workforce – Learning & Development, said: “We are thrilled to have gained the Gold standard Work Experience Quality Standard accreditation and be recognised for our commitment to inspiring young people. The Trust wants to provide applicants with a breadth of learning opportunities and robust skills so they have the right tools to start a meaningful career within the NHS.

“We hope that with the Gold accreditation to our name, we can actively promote our Trust as a future employer.”

The Trust is now looking to encourage more students with learning disabilities to find placements, and is working with West London Alliance and Health Education England North West London to create supported internships in non-clinical areas from next year.
