Our plans to upgrade the St Bernard’s Hospital site have made a great deal of progress during the past few months.
In February 2012, we submitted a planning application for the project to Ealing Council, and this was approved in May.
A three-day Gateway Review in March 2012 saw the Trust receive an Amber/Green rating. This is one of the highest levels attainable.
Our Gateway Review results coincided with the Outline Business Case being submitted to NHS London and the Department of Health for approval.
To update you on these and other achievements, as well as our land sale plans, we’re holding another open day on Wednesday 5 September, from 10am to 8pm, St Peter’s Chapel, St Bernard’s Hospital, Uxbridge Road, Southall, UB1 3HW.
This event will include all the latest information on the:
Overall vision for the estate
Construction programme and departmental moves associated with the new medium secure unit
New housing proposals for the front of the site including the conversion of former Hospital buildings
Proposals for a new estate road, to improve access within the Hospital site
New energy centre proposals to provide a sustainable energy source supply.
It will also give us the opportunity to keep you up to date and gain the local communities views about our plans to sell off parts of the site, which are now surplus to NHS requirements. Funding obtained from our proposed land sales will be reinvested at St Bernard’s to improve the Hospital, its services and our care for all patients.
