To keep local residents up to date with the Broadmoor Hospital redevelopment project, West London Mental Health NHS Trust is inviting local residents to its spring open days, which take place later this month around the borough.
Since receiving the final go ahead from the Department of Health to construct the new 234 bed hospital, we have made a great deal of progress, and remain on target with our preparation work. This will ensure the new building is ready for patients, services and staff by spring 2017.
Stakeholder engagement forms an essential part of this project and informing local people about what is going on ranks extremely high on the trust’s agenda. However, this time around there’s much more information available and new illustrations, showing visitors exactly what the new buildings will look like once they are finished.
Deputy redevelopment programme director, Vivienne Mowatt, said: “These open days are just one of the ways we can let people know where we are with the project. There’s normally a really good turnout for these events and it’s obvious that the local community has a real interest in this historic hospital. As well as key representatives from the redevelopment team, Kier will also be in attendance to discuss the building process and respond to any questions or concerns the local community might have.”
At the beginning of the year, the trust celebrated the official start of the redevelopment and now main contractor, Kier, is on site constructing their compound. This is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer 2014, when actual building work for the new hospital structures will begin.
