Trust's Chief Executive responds to Prime Minister's comments on race inequality in the public sector

10 Oct 2017

Commenting on Theresa May’s remarks on race inequality in public services, Carolyn Regan, Chief Executive at West London Mental Health NHS Trust said:

“At West London Mental Health NHS Trust we believe that a strong organisation is a diverse one. Over half of our staff are from a BME background and we are proud of our diversity and value the contribution of all of our staff regardless of race, sexuality, gender, sex, age, disability or marital status.

“We are Stonewall Champions and have in place a successful programme to develop leadership skills amongst our black and ethnic minority (BME) staff, with 12 leaders graduating from the programme being promoted to a more senior role.

“We are absolutely committed to continuing to support our BME staff in this way and also addressing inequality more widely by striving to achieve positive mental health outcomes for our patients from different backgrounds.”

We’re changing the way some of our services are delivered during the coronavirus (Covid-19) public health emergency.Find out more
