Carers Rights Day 2010

03 Dec 2010

Men looking at an information leafletEach year, more than two million people become carers for the first time. Carers Rights Day is celebrated across the UK on 3 December to raise awareness of the important role carers play and to help people understand the support they’re entitled to.

Carers have certain legal rights to benefits and other help, but people are often unaware of their rights or how to get appropriate help.

Looking after someone
Carers UK has produced a guide to make sure carers know about their rights and the help available to them. This guide sets out what rights carers have and how they can get:

  • Financial help.
  • Practical help.
  • Help with combining work and caring.
