Mental health Xposed in Watermans exhibition

19 Jul 2011

Service users and staff from The Cassel Hospital have launched a photography exhibition at Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford.

The intimate exhibition, titled Xposed, is the result of a photography workshop at the specialist site on Ham Common, which gave people the opportunity to explore their deepest thoughts and feelings about living with mental health issues.

One participant said: “Photography is a powerful medium that I can use to get across how I feel in my mind. I feel really good – I’m proud that I can show the world and not try to hide my mental health.”

The name of the exhibition, Xposed, was chosen by the patients, as they felt they were exposing their lives and issues to a public audience.

Each image is accompanied by a caption to help convey what the photographer was trying to convey.

On such caption reads: “For so many years I have felt tied in knots, but now they are starting to unravel.”

Xposed is on display at Watermans Arts Centre, 40 High Street, Brentford, 12-9pm until 27 July.
