Referrals

Referral process and pathway

Children may be referred to the service and assessed when or if;

  • They have an Ealing GP
  • There are concerns about their hearing
  • They have been referred by ENT (ear, nose and throat) for pre or post op hearing tests.

Referrals are triaged by the senior audiologists in the service. All referrals are accepted, except those where the GP is out of borough. Once a referral has been received, it gets registered and a letter sent to you for an appointment.

Children will be referred on to other services as necessary, e.g. ENT, speech therapy, the child development team.  The Paediatric Audiology Service only assess children aged 7 months to 18 years. If your child has reached 18 years and further monitoring of their hearing is still required, a letter will be sent to your GP for a referral to the Adult Audiology Service.
