Services provided within St Bernard’s Hospital are as follows:
Butler House is an inpatient unit on the St Bernard’s Hospital site providing transition in a recovery model to community living in a low secure setting.
The Orchard is a women’s secure service comprised of six wards. Two of the wards in the unit are designed specifically for women who require enhanced levels of intervention and treatment within a medium secure setting and for whom current medium secure services are not appropriate. In addition two wards provide medium secure services and two low secure services for women.
Patients are admitted from high secure, low secure, psychiatric intensive care units and directly from the Courts.
The Orchard service has a clear model of care underpinning the philosophy of treating women patients in the least restrictive environment with a focus on dynamic care planning and active engagement.
