Equality Impact Assessments

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is undertaken on all new policies and service developments. It is also required on existing policies every three years as part of an ongoing programme of policy reviews.

An Equality Impact Assessment is a systematic approach to finding out whether a policy or a service development affects, or is likely to affect, different groups in different ways. It therefore provides a structured approach to assessing policies for ‘adverse impact’ or ‘positive impact’ on any particular groups.
