Equality and diversity

West London NHS Trust workforce

Our workforce is made up of many talented individuals with a large diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, styles and characteristics.

Valuing the differences of each team member is a fundamental part of working at West London NHS Trust. We have a diversity unit, which was set up to develop equality and diversity initiatives around patient care and employment issues.

It enables us to create respectful work environments, build enthusiastic teams, and better understand our service users’ changing needs. In this way we are able to deliver quality care and services.

We also publish a range of reports which provide summaries of the work that we do to ensure we comply with our legislative commitments under the Equality Act 2010.

Our Annual Demographic report shows how we have complied with our legislative commitments to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people from different groups;
  • Foster good relations between people from different groups.

It also provides a summary of the demographic profile of our patients and workforce in four sections:

I. The service user equality section

II. The workforce equality section

III. The third section contains population profiles for the boroughs that we cover and

IV. The fourth section provides examples of the actions taken to meet the public sector equality duty over this period.
